Just Another day in paradise

Just your average, ordinary day in the B household. A bit of shopping (Logan is now the besotted owner of a stuffed toy rabbit), Chinese food for tea and once again I am still awake at the wee hours of the morning. In two hours time i will have officially been up 24 hours straight. This mummy business isn't all its cracked up to be sometimes.

Boxing day

Anyone who knows Bristol will know that my next statement is complete madness. Anyone who lives near or has ever been to a large shopping centre will also know its complete madness.

I went to the Mall

I went to the Mall on boxing day

I went to the Mall on boxing day during the sales.

The Mall is a huge shopping centre in Cribbs Causeway on the outskirts of Bristol. It has been in the local news recently due to the complete gridlock that happens nearly every year around Christmas time. I have been stuck before for over four hours and my brother got stuck on Monday for nearly five hours. But for some ungodly reason it seamed like a very good idea to head to the Mall this afternoon. We packed up the car, prepared for a long queue and

Nothing.

The roads were empty. I thought for a moment that maybe the Mall was closed, it was that quiet. Forty five minutes I am the proud owner of a new handbag, Charlie has a new game for his 360 and I’ve bought some Christmas scrapbooking stuff for the stash. Not bad going really.

Charlie and I decided to celebrate our good fortune with McDonalds. Yum.

I love going to my parents for tea. Mum always does way to much food and I get a little peace and quiet because dad can’t leave Logan alone. Granny and her friend Tom joined us and a good time was had by all. Logan laughed and smiled at everyone, his usual charming self.

I can’t believe Christmas is over.

I hate picking new glasses

Why does walking in to an Opticians fill me with dread? I have worn glasses since before I can remember so I should be used to the degradation of the silly plastic glasses and the mild disgust and discomfit of having someone breathe in your face while flashing a light in to your eyes. This time was no exception, I felt silly and uncomfortable through most of the test but the good new is that my eyes have gotten a little better. This means that I now have thinner lenses and fashionable glasses are within my reach. So down the stairs I trot, new prescription in hand to pick out new frames for a fairly uninspiring collection. Stairs and no lift! I glad mum was with me or I would have been stuck as I had Logan with me in the push chair but thats a rant for a later date. Buried in a collection of so called fashionable frames I managed to find a pair that not only suit me but that I love. Its just a shame that I have to wait until next Friday to pick them up before I can show them off. A picture will follow as they are too hard to describe.

I Love Fridays

I love Fridays because I get to spend them with my mum. Today we went to Yate shopping. I am having my wedding dress cleaned so that I can sell it so we dropped that off first then wandered around the stores. Mum brought me a pair of knee high boots in Evans despite dads instructions not to spend too much money then we headed to Woolworths. As Woolworths is about to go bust everything in there is on sale. We picked up a few outstanding Christmas presents and a couple of things for Logan. We had a quick lunch at Mcdonalds then went home to see dad. Dad finally fitted the base for Logans car seat in for me and a little mirror on the rear headrest so that I can see Logan in my rear view when I drive. Dad babysat for me so that mum and I could go to Tescos food shopping. I now have a nice full fridge and freezer. No more gazing vacantly into the fridge praying that the food fairy has been overnight. I have new shoes now all I need is a good nights sleep.

The Reindeer Suit

I ventured out with my mum today, to try and get the last of my Christmas shopping done. I know my son is only 7 weeks old but I really wanted to get him a little Christmas present. He won’t appreciate it, play with it or even know what it is for at least another two months but as it is his first Christmas I wanted to give him something. So off to mothercare I troop, his doting grandmother in tow. One of the benefits of being a mother is parent and child parking spaces. I still get a little thrill from parking in one. I love mothercare, its full of temptation for a new mum. With Logan being my first its very hard to resist the temptation not to dress him very silly outfits and mothercare have their fair share of them. As it is Christmas you can now dress your child as a reindeer, a snowman, a penguin or even a Christmas pudding. Everything in me tells me that they are just awful, tacky and hideous and that I should never consider dressing my little boy in such a demeaning outfit but somewhere along the lines, probably during my stay in hospital these outfits became impossibly cute. I think they must have given me too many drugs. It seems that by becoming a mother somewhere along the way I have lost all sense of style. You will be pleased to here that I didn’t buy my son a novelty outfit as you see there is no need. His auntie Emma has beaten me to it. She bought him a reindeer outfit last week and as much as I hate to admit it, it is unbearably cute and he will look adorable on Christmas day.
After picking Charlie up from work and fighting my way through the traffic at Aztec west, we come home to a very cold house because once again we have run out of gas. I can’t get on with having a card meter, we keep running out because I forget to check if there is money left on it. Because I have been out all day there is a very bored and hungry cat waiting for me along with a mountain of housework. I gave Fincher our cat double food before I went out but, the little pig that he is, he had eaten it all in one go and was meowing like mad when I got in for his next lot. So I feed him then ran around for the next two hours doing all the little jobs that it takes to keep a three bed house tidy when you have a new born and a very messy husband. I swear I have never done so much washing in my entire life than I have done since Logan was born. He seems to spit up on everything regardless of how much I wind him. So he has about three changes a day, that along with the sheets and blankets he inevitably spits up on as well means I’m washing at least one load every other day. Add in all the washing that two adults create, usually with spit up down the shoulder, I always have washing to do. All that said I love seeing Logan’s baby clothes drying on the radiators or on the line. It just feels so mumsy knowing that im looking after my little man. Oddly enough my husband’s boxers on the radiator do not instil such warm feelings, go figure.
In between the bottle warmings, the washing and the nappies I managed to squeeze a little time to work on one of my projects. I have been working on many craft projects for months and tonight I finally managed to get some time to work on a crochet afghan that I have been adding to for months. Worked in light cherry shades it comprises of ten different pattern blocks. I’m making ten of each of these to make up one hundred. So far I have about fifty so half way there. Pictures to follow soon, hopefully when I have it completed. I am hoping to have it finished by Christmas but as the festive season gets closer I must start work on my Christmas cards. Just another job for tomorrow.

Life, The universe and everything

Its been a little while since I've posted, not because nothing has happened more because I cant think of anything to say. I've been on holiday this past week. Its been wonderful, I've spent a fortune on DVD's and a lot of time with Charlie whom I love to bits. Having had my car breakdown on Wednesday put a bit of a downer on things but after a little negotiation with my mum I am now driving her Ford Puma, which to be honest sucks. It drives like a roller skate and is way too sensitive.

Friday 18th November ~ I worked during the day then went to Jans house to load The Sims on to her daughters PC. I had expected it to take along time but eight o'clock saw me running out the door to pick up Charlie leaving her to finish installing the last expansion pack.

Saturday 19th November ~ I had, Being a dumb ass, volunteered to work in the morning testing our now system during its roll out. What started out as a nice easy ride on double pay slowly turned in to a living hell, With everything that could go wrong going wrong in a short space of time. Cue a lot of pleading, begging and shouting. I finally left at about four, leaving behind a hell of a lot of work but hey I had a party to get ready for!. The aforementioned party was actually a wedding reception for two of Charlies friends. The evening started badly with our taxi not showing up but when we finally got there It was great. An amazingly bad Wedding band and great food. I had a wonderful time.

Sunday 20th November ~ Sundays usually see Charlie and I hitting the shops followed by the sheets and this weekend was no exception. We watched a few films. Shawn of the dead which was hilarious, Batman, a classic and an old favorite followed by Commando, all I can say is that's one big horny gay commando!

Monday 21st November ~ Lazed around with the intention of doing a lot but did nothing.

Tuesday 22nd November ~ My mum had the day off so we went to Clark's village shopping. I had a good time, didn't spend too much but did come home with new boots. Naughty naughty Lisa, must learn to control this foot wear obsession.

Wednesday 22nd November ~ I picked Charlie up from work and wee hit the mall again. Tried to go home but my car wouldn't start. Cue a panicked phone call to my dad. He arrived and after a failed attempt to jump start the car I called Green flag. I was charged Seventy two pounds just to get some guy to come out and look at it! The woman was rude, aggressive and not very reassuring. I wanted to be rescued not given a mouth full of abuse. After ten minutes on the phone a nice man was sent to rescue me. He arrived within twenty minutes and with a wave of his magic wand, or banging my starter engine with a big stick, started my car.

Thursday 23rd November ~ I really can't remember what I did. Is that bad?

Friday 24th November ~ Managed to convince my mum that I can drive her car and that I wont crash it. She said yes so off I went to Charlies. Cue great food, great films and great "cuddling"

Saturday 25th November ~ Not having a car is really starting to cramp my social life. Crawling around for permition to borrow my mums is becoming humiliating. I want my baby back!

Sunday 26th November ~ Got up way too late to do much, that my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Off to Charlies in a bit.

Enyone who knows me will know I recently perchased a new phone and I hate it with a passion. Im currently bidding on 8 items, all long term and still low, and I have won 3 lots, all Nightmare before xmas stuff from Japan.
