Just your average, ordinary day in the B household. A bit of shopping (Logan is now the besotted owner of a stuffed toy rabbit), Chinese food for tea and once again I am still awake at the wee hours of the morning. In two hours time i will have officially been up 24 hours straight. This mummy business isn't all its cracked up to be sometimes.

....envy.
I really do envy those organized people who some how manage to blog every day. I really would love to but I often run out of time and more often than not have very little to say. But tonight I have the time for a little update on the wild and crazy life that I live.
I have finally finished decorating the box room, now dubbed "The Bat Cave". Dove ey on three walls and soft black on the fourth. With the black blinds and curtains is looks chic and masculine, which was what I was aiming for as it is a home office/den for my hubby.
My little boy has developed the most hideous eczema which has left him looking a little like Lizard man, but thankfully I think we now have it under control and he is now getting back his beautiful baby soft skin. We are waiting rather impatiently for him to cut his first tooth as well so lots of sleepless nights for us.
I have been scrapping like mad but making very few cards. I go through stages like that though. I was finding it heartbreaking to let go of my hard work even though they were greatly appreciated. With scrapbooking my creations don't stray any further than my book case. Pictures to follow.

Some times I forget.
I saw this while tidying up before heading to bed and had to snap a picture. My husband has taken Logans shoes off and dropped them on top of his in the corner of the dining room (Oddly enough that is wear my husbands work shoes live). My husband has size 12/13 feet and they make Logans shoes seem so small.
My little boy Logan is 4 months old in a few days. I feel like time has flown by. I think what makes it seam that way even more is that Logan is growing at an alarming rate. He has been checked out by numerous doctors and we have been told that his growth is perfectly healthy and that he will slow down in time. As my husband Charlie is over 6 ft tall and big with it they are not surprised. This picture was taken today. In it Logan is wearing a 6 - 9 months baby grow. He has been grumpy all evening as I have made him wear his scratch mitts. He has dry skin on his face and he keeps scratching it, poor love.

I love this picture of Logan smiling over his dads shoulder. This layout started out as an entry for a challenge at Ad This but I got distracted and never finished it in time.

I.B.S also known as Irritable Baby Syndrome.
Strikes when ever mum is trying to work on a challenge
Only known cure - Cuddles.
Logan has been suffering IBS for a couple of day and I am starting to get used to doing everything with one hand whilst carrying or bouncing him. Even managed to type this with one hand. :0)

My creative side can be very hit and miss sometimes. I love to mess around with paper and glue but every once in a while it starts to feel like a chore instead of a joyous and fulfilling hobby. Usually after my 50th Christmas card.
But today I was inspired by a wonderful group of ladies who run the challenge blog Scrap Schemes . i stumbled across this blog while hopping and was so inspired by there scheme 10 challenge that I had to give it a go. Here is my attempt. Its about my little boys growing fixation with his dummy.
Sorry about the picture quality

Something always goes wrong at Christmas doesn’t it? People queue for miles to return the broken presents, screaming child in toe wishing they were at home. Charlies new 360 game went wrong so we had to join the masses in the line for returns. Luckily we managed to miss the traffic and exchanged the game with minimal fuss. We even had time to nip in to toys r us to pick up a cot bumper for Logans nursery.
I couldn’t help but get a little frustrated by the stupidity of people on mass. They all queue like lemmings, shuffling forward complaining that they should open another till, that they will be late for some appointment of divine importance. They came to what is always a very busy shop on one of the busiest days of the year. Did they really think that they wouldn’t have to queue? The only conclusion I can come to is that some people are either very dumb or so egotistical that they believe that the armful of cheap toys they are trying to buy for their spoilt children really matters to a corporation as big as toys r us. I didn’t mind queuing at all. I got to stand there and pull faces at my little boy while he laughed and smiled. Not a bad way to pass the time.

I used to live for the weekends. Like most of the working world my weekend used to mean freedom from the stress and aggravation of having to produce something that will appease the boss. My weekend mean something very different now. In my world they don't exist any more. There is still house work to do, still a baby to look after and still a husband to clean up after. No more Friday night drinks. No more Saturdays shopping and wasting time with my friends. No more lazy Sunday's nursing a hangover and watching films in my pajamas. Those days are gone and have been replaced with something that maybe more mature, more worthwhile but damn, it's nowhere near as fun. My Friday nights are now filled with washing and making up feeds, looking after my son and trying to get a head start on all the little jobs I have to do so that by Sunday I can just sit and enjoy what little time we have together as a family. My Saturdays and no longer spent chatting with my friends and wandering round the mall, but spent fighting my way around the supermarket because i have forgotten something. My Saturday nights are not filled with drunken revelry but with late night feeds and bad 80s buddy cop movies. My Sundays though, if I have planned it right will be filled with films and cuddling on the sofa. It doesn't happen as much as I would like as my husband is more often than not sat at his pc working on something that I can only guess at. The world and your life changes. You can fight it and you can bemoan your fate or you can stop and enjoy what you have. I may not have the freedom of my youth but I have a man who I love more than live who I know feels the same, I have a son who smiles when he sees me and I have a big ass tv for watching those bad 80s buddy cop movies.
My little boy Logan had his first set of ejections today. I’m not sure who was more shaken up by it, him or me. He gave out a little cry but was very good, and me? Well I had to close my eyes. I couldn’t bare the idea that my little boy was going to be hurt. He was a bit grumbly for the rest of the day but other that the occasional need for a cuddle he was as good as gold. I still managed to get my Christmas cards written though, off in the post tomorrow.

Thursday is my day, the day when I do as little as possible.
I started work on my Christmas cards and introduced Logan to one of my favourite films. The muppet Christmas carol. The perfect film to watch while I make my cards. I am finding it hard to get into the spirit of things this year. Because we don’t have a lot of money I feel like our options have become limited. But with Logan around we seem to be more in demand, last year we could have disappeared off the planet and it wouldn’t have mattered too much but this year has already started getting complicated. Charlie’s dad is heading off to Spain for Christmas so I’m not sure when we are going to see him. I am really looking forward to New Year though. We are going to a cosplay evening. I plan to resurrect an old New Year costume from a previous year, a geisha costume. So as much as I like Christmas, I’m hoping it goes quickly.
Why is it that every morning after taking Charlie to work I come home and stare into the fridge as if it contains some mystical relic? I can never choose anything for breakfast so end up having something completely inappropriate. This morning breakfast consisted of bbq beef flavour hula hoops, a ham and cheese toastie, diet coke and a sterling kingsize. Not the most nutritious of ways to start the day.
In the morning I did very little. Logan slept for 5 hours between feeds and I only woke him up because he had his 6-8 week medical at 1.15 and I wanted to give him a bath. Once again I spent a few hours doing housework and then sorted out our Christmas presents.
Logan flew through his medical with out a problem. He is a health bouncy 12 pound 10 ounces, his hearing and vision are good as well as his spine and hips. He does have a little baby eczema so I will be off tomorrow to get him some E45. But other than that we have the perfect if a little large baby.
After tea, while having a quick rest and eating some ice cream Charlie showed me a set of cd cases he had obviously been working on for a long time. They were wonderful but I couldn’t help but wonder if this was a sign of a fundamental difference between men and women or a least between my husband and I. Having a baby around takes pretty much all of my time and keeping our house upstraight takes up the rest. When I do manage to get some “me” time I spend it either with my parents or I do something that will benefit both of us, like painting the kitchen. It seems obvious to me that when my husband gets his “me” time, which may I add he gets a lot more than me, he spend working solely on thing that will improve his life. Now either he is being selfish or I am not being selfish enough? I’m not sure that I really want to know the answer to that question so instead of pondering it too closely im going to steal a little me time and watch a little Bill Bailey.
I ventured out with my mum today, to try and get the last of my Christmas shopping done. I know my son is only 7 weeks old but I really wanted to get him a little Christmas present. He won’t appreciate it, play with it or even know what it is for at least another two months but as it is his first Christmas I wanted to give him something. So off to mothercare I troop, his doting grandmother in tow. One of the benefits of being a mother is parent and child parking spaces. I still get a little thrill from parking in one. I love mothercare, its full of temptation for a new mum. With Logan being my first its very hard to resist the temptation not to dress him very silly outfits and mothercare have their fair share of them. As it is Christmas you can now dress your child as a reindeer, a snowman, a penguin or even a Christmas pudding. Everything in me tells me that they are just awful, tacky and hideous and that I should never consider dressing my little boy in such a demeaning outfit but somewhere along the lines, probably during my stay in hospital these outfits became impossibly cute. I think they must have given me too many drugs. It seems that by becoming a mother somewhere along the way I have lost all sense of style. You will be pleased to here that I didn’t buy my son a novelty outfit as you see there is no need. His auntie Emma has beaten me to it. She bought him a reindeer outfit last week and as much as I hate to admit it, it is unbearably cute and he will look adorable on Christmas day.
After picking Charlie up from work and fighting my way through the traffic at Aztec west, we come home to a very cold house because once again we have run out of gas. I can’t get on with having a card meter, we keep running out because I forget to check if there is money left on it. Because I have been out all day there is a very bored and hungry cat waiting for me along with a mountain of housework. I gave Fincher our cat double food before I went out but, the little pig that he is, he had eaten it all in one go and was meowing like mad when I got in for his next lot. So I feed him then ran around for the next two hours doing all the little jobs that it takes to keep a three bed house tidy when you have a new born and a very messy husband. I swear I have never done so much washing in my entire life than I have done since Logan was born. He seems to spit up on everything regardless of how much I wind him. So he has about three changes a day, that along with the sheets and blankets he inevitably spits up on as well means I’m washing at least one load every other day. Add in all the washing that two adults create, usually with spit up down the shoulder, I always have washing to do. All that said I love seeing Logan’s baby clothes drying on the radiators or on the line. It just feels so mumsy knowing that im looking after my little man. Oddly enough my husband’s boxers on the radiator do not instil such warm feelings, go figure.
In between the bottle warmings, the washing and the nappies I managed to squeeze a little time to work on one of my projects. I have been working on many craft projects for months and tonight I finally managed to get some time to work on a crochet afghan that I have been adding to for months. Worked in light cherry shades it comprises of ten different pattern blocks. I’m making ten of each of these to make up one hundred. So far I have about fifty so half way there. Pictures to follow soon, hopefully when I have it completed. I am hoping to have it finished by Christmas but as the festive season gets closer I must start work on my Christmas cards. Just another job for tomorrow.
